ABOUT STELLAR SELF

Understanding yourself is where conscious living begins.

THE BEGINNING OF A QUESTION

My relationship with astrology began when I was very young, during the years when I was first becoming curious about identity, personality, and the question of what makes each of us who we are.

At a time when access to serious astrological material was far more limited than it is today, I began searching for whatever I could find.

As I entered university and gained access to a much wider world of information, that curiosity became a serious field of independent study.

I read widely, compared different approaches, studied techniques, and gradually built my understanding through years of research, observation, and practice.

Research has always been one of my natural strengths. I was a highly academic student and graduated first in my entire department with a degree in Economics.

That analytical side of me shaped the way I approached astrology.

I didn't simply want to believe that it worked.
I wanted to observe it.

FROM PREDICTION TO UNDERSTANDING

For many years, my approach to astrology was primarily predictive.

I read thousands of charts and began studying the relationship between planetary cycles and the experiences unfolding in people's lives.

When I saw a significant transit or progression, I would form a hypothesis about what that period might bring.

Then I would ask:

What happened to you during this period?

Perhaps someone had married or entered a significant relationship.

Perhaps they had changed careers, moved to another country, experienced a loss, started something entirely new, or reached a turning point they had never expected.

I did this with clients, but also with people around me.

I would identify a significant period in someone's chart and then compare the astrological symbolism with what had actually happened in their life.

Over years of doing this, I became increasingly convinced that astrology could offer something genuinely useful:

a way of recognizing patterns that are not always visible from inside our own lives.

But eventually, my questions began to change.

I became less interested in asking:

What is likely to happen?

And much more interested in asking:

What can you do with what you know?

A chart can reveal potential, strengths, vulnerabilities, desires, contradictions, developmental themes, and recurring patterns.

Timing techniques can help us understand the particular chapter we are moving through.

But what happens when a person can actually see these things clearly?

Can you recognize an opportunity when it appears?

Can you understand a difficult period without becoming completely lost inside it?

Can you work more consciously with your strengths?

Can you make a different choice because you understand yourself differently?

This shift changed the way I wanted to practice astrology.

I became less interested in astrology as a system for telling people what would happen, and more interested in using it to help people understand what is happening, why it may be happening, and what possibilities exist within it.

And honestly, I have come to love astrology much more in this form.

Because the most meaningful part of the work is no longer simply identifying what a period may bring.

It is helping someone meet that period with greater awareness, recognize their possibilities, and work more actively with their own potential.

THE QUESTIONS CHANGED.

What is likely to happen?
What can you do with what you know?

LEARNING TO SEE PEOPLE

Alongside my astrological work, I spent more than a decade working as a teacher in an international environment.

I was invited by organizers in different cities and countries to teach, give workshops, and perform. Over the years, I worked with people from many different cultures and backgrounds.

I also taught people travelling through Istanbul from Europe, Russia, the United States, East Asia, and many other parts of the world who sought me out for private lessons and workshops.

That experience taught me something that became increasingly important to my work:

Teaching requires you to truly see the person in front of you.

You cannot teach everyone in exactly the same way.

You learn to notice how people think, how they respond to difficulty, where they hesitate, what gives them confidence, what makes them open up, and what may be preventing them from expressing what they are capable of.

Working with people from different cultures also showed me how much context matters.

The same desire, fear, ambition, or difficulty can take very different forms depending on someone's environment, culture, relationships, and life experience.

Over time, I became increasingly interested in something that connected my teaching experience with what I had been observing through astrology:

the space between a person's potential and the life they have learned to live.

WHEN ASTROLOGY AND LIFE EXPERIENCE CAME TOGETHER

This became one of the central ideas behind the way I work today.

A person can carry enormous potential and still struggle to express it.

Someone can have a strong sense of purpose but live in an environment that makes that purpose difficult to recognize.

Someone can repeatedly experience the same pattern without understanding where it comes from.

Someone can enter a major period of change and feel completely lost simply because they do not yet have a framework for understanding what is happening.

And sometimes the problem is not a lack of potential at all.

It is that a person has never learned how to recognize, trust, or work with what is already there.

My years of studying astrology taught me to recognize patterns.

My years of teaching taught me to recognize people.

And my experience of working closely with both taught me that a person's potential and the life they are currently living are not always the same thing.

There is the blueprint.

There is the environment.

There are the circumstances.

There are the cycles unfolding around us.

And then there is the person — making choices, adapting, resisting, growing, repeating, changing.

The interesting question is what happens in the space between all of these things.

That is where astrology became much more interesting to me.

WHY STELLAR SELF EXISTS

Stellar Self grew out of this way of seeing people.

I believe many of us move through life carrying layers we did not consciously choose — expectations from family, cultural conditioning, relationship patterns, ideas about success, fears, habits, and identities that once helped us belong or adapt.

Over time, these layers can become difficult to separate from who we actually are.

We may know how to live the life we have learned to live without ever asking whether it is the life that truly fits us.

Astrology can offer a different perspective.

It can help us see the underlying patterns, understand the chapter we are moving through, recognize our potential, and consider possibilities that may be difficult to see from inside the experience itself.

I created Stellar Self to bring that perspective into a more conscious, practical form.

Not to tell you who you are.

Not to prescribe who you should become.

But to give you a clearer view of the relationship between your blueprint, your circumstances, your timing, and your choices.

THE WORK I DO NOW

Today, I use astrology as a framework for helping people understand themselves and their lives more consciously.

Sometimes that means understanding your fundamental blueprint.

Sometimes it means making sense of a period of transition.

Sometimes it means understanding a relationship pattern.

Sometimes it means exploring your professional direction, visibility, or the way you express your abilities in the world.

Sometimes it means understanding how a particular place may interact with your chart.

And sometimes the question is simply:

What is happening in my life right now, and what can I do with it?

The answer is rarely contained in one placement or one technique.

It emerges from looking at the whole picture — the individual, the chart, the timing, the circumstances, and the choices available.

That is the approach behind Stellar Self.

WHAT I WANT THIS WORK TO MAKE POSSIBLE

I want people to understand their unique blueprint rather than constantly measuring themselves against someone else's.

To recognize their strengths without becoming blind to their vulnerabilities.

To understand the seasons they are moving through rather than feeling lost inside them.

To recognize patterns while they are happening.

To see possibilities where they previously saw only confusion.

And ultimately, to develop a more active relationship with their own potential.

I want you to experience your own blueprint rather than simply read about it.

To understand what is uniquely yours.

To recognize what has been shaped by your environment.

To distinguish between the life you have inherited and the life you actually want to build.

And, gradually, to create a life you can recognize as genuinely your own.

THE STELLAR SELF PHILOSOPHY

I don't believe astrology is here to tell us that everything is predetermined.
And I don't believe we have complete control over everything that happens to us.
There is a space between those two ideas.
A space where awareness matters.
Where timing matters.
Where context matters.
Where choice matters.
Where potential can be developed rather than simply admired.
That is the space I am interested in exploring.
Stellar Self exists to help you understand that space — and learn how to work with it more consciously.

THE PERSON BEHIND STELLAR SELF

Dilara Öz
Founder · Astrologer · Teacher

For more than two decades, I have studied astrology through research, observation, practice, and years of working closely with people.

My work today brings together those different experiences: the analytical curiosity that first drew me to astrology, the thousands of charts that taught me to observe its patterns, the years of teaching that taught me to see the individual in front of me, and the life experience that gradually changed the questions I wanted astrology to answer.

I created Stellar Self as the place where all of this comes together.

Not simply to interpret a chart.

But to help someone understand themselves more deeply, recognize the possibilities within their own life, and develop a more conscious relationship with who they are becoming.

My role is not to tell you who you are.
It is to help you see yourself more clearly.

BEYOND THE WORK

I’m 39 and based in Istanbul, where I live with my husband, our son, and our two cats.

Outside of astrology and my work, I’m drawn to travel, languages, dance, music, books, nature, meditation, aesthetics, and art. I love exploring new places and cultures, but I also value quiet, inward spaces — time in nature, stillness, and practices that bring me back to myself.

I’m naturally curious, and much of what interests me outside of work eventually finds its way back into how I understand people, relationships, and the different ways we experience life.
